iPod owners want radio in next player

Size, it seems, no longer matters. Or rather it doesn't matter as much as a built-in radio. Yes, we're talking what consumers want from future iPods - at least what rock-centric radio station listeners demand, according to a new poll. US consultancy Jacobs Media placed polls on 69 radio stations' websites last month.

My take

If Apple can retain the price and size of the iPod with the integrated Radio (FM, mostly), I would buy it.

All major smart phones have a radio built into nowadays, the only problem is that you've got to use the supplied headset to listen to the radio itself. Which makes sense, except I don't carry my headset for talking on the phone and neither to 70-80% of phone users I guess (except when they're in a car?)

So if my iPod (which I already use headphones for) comes integrated with a radio (and my previous two requirements are satisfied) I will definitely be interested.

An extra gadget like the iPod FM remote costs 50 bucks. Embedded radio technology is easily integrated. Even more reason why the iPod should come with a radio?

My 'hedonistic' side wants the iPod with a radio because I can tune in to some new music once in a while. It's hard to keep up with the latest trends in music unless you're a pirate!

Don't say the radio is difficult to integrate with the iPod. Don't say it is expensive to do so. Don't say the reception will be messed up. I don't agree. I'm sure the iPhone will have a radio integrated. If Apple can integrate it with the iPhone then the iPod should be even easier. Period!
